For the gardener, there's hardly anything more welcomed than the bright, sunny face of the daffodils. They're the first to arrive in the very early spring and the first flower to give us hope that finally, at last, the long winter is over. They serve as a sign of resurrection after the death of winter. Once again, we can begin to fill our baskets and vases with what the garden has to offer and there is no greater joy for the gardener than the first vase of daffodils. For the gardener drawn to French color palettes, the bright yellow flowers are a natural companion for the blue vases collected over the winter. The chinked wall is once we discovered in our kitchen after ripping out layers of plaster and wallpaper.
