The amount of work this photograph represents is staggering. Anyone who has worked to grow, harvest, and store their food knows exactly how much. The cheese wheels are homemade gouda, made from milk from our dairy cow Cecilia. We hand milk her before spending hours - and days - in making the cheese and preparing it for storage. The cheese wheels are stored in our root cellar, alongside apples, pears, potatoes, squash, cured meats, garlic, and braids of onions. When I began our small farm almost a decade ago, this image is what I hoped for. This was my dream. To be here is humbling - and I'm grateful for the work.
