Growing up in Washington State, the Pacific Ocean was our destination each summer. We would spend our time digging clams and geoducks and hunting in tidal pools for whatever creatures we could find. It wasn't until adulthood that I fell in love with eating said creatures. Particularly the oyster. It tastes perfectly of a sea I love dearly. As a home cook, and a photographer, one simply must appreciate the magic that is the oyster. From the texture of the shell to the shape of the muscle, it is a food to be wonderfully appreciated and celebrated. Inspired by the French painter, François Bonvin, who saw the same beauty in the oyster that I do.
