Spotted Dead Nettle from the shade garden is at its best in Spring. It's flowers look like tiny little orchids... or maybe foxglove blossoms... slightly hooded to hide their middle. I grow a lot of Spotted Dead Nettle in the shade of a gigantic oak tree that we inherited with the property and though it clings tightly to the ground, the beautiful purple and pink flowers break free from the greenery, shoot towards the sun, and create a beautiful, colorful effect in the garden. It's an awkward flower to put in a vase, as it's stems are impossibly short, so naturally - a wine glass got involved. (Wine can often help in awkward situations.)
